Handle cancellations and disputes

Choose the right action when work stops, a delivery needs changes, or the parties cannot agree.

Start from the affected deal in Deals. Its current stage determines which actions are available.

Cancel or request changes

Before work starts, either party can cancel a proposed or confirmed deal. After work starts, stepping away requires a reason and means ending your side without asking for something back.

If you believe you are owed payment, work, or a refund, use the dispute path instead of treating cancellation as a settlement request.

For a delivered item that needs ordinary revisions, the client can request changes. This returns the deal to In progress and stops the current review clock. Be specific about what must change.

Open a dispute

Either side can raise a dispute while the deal is In progress or Delivered. Choose the reason, explain the problem, and add relevant evidence.

Keep evidence tied to the agreement: the promised scope, delivered files, agreed revisions, or payment record. Both sides can add evidence while the dispute remains open or escalated.

The response date shown in the dispute is a prompt to reply. It does not automatically decide the case or award a win when someone stays silent.

Resolve or escalate

The available ways to end a dispute have different consequences:

  • The person who raised it can withdraw it, returning the deal to its previous stage.
  • The client side can concede by releasing the deal.
  • The creator side can concede by refunding it.
  • Either side can escalate for staff review when the parties cannot resolve it.

Escalating does not remove the parties' ability to concede. Staff adjudication applies to escalated cases.

For Studio-backed deals, the account of record and the relevant Studio managers can act for their side. Ordinary Studio members can observe; they cannot decide the dispute.

Follow the payment record

A resolution and a completed refund or payout are separate statuses. Onsite funds must finish their payment processing. Bloxstack cannot automatically reverse money sent outside its payment flow.

A deal resolved through a dispute does not earn the same completion reputation or review eligibility as a clean close. If payment processing remains stuck after resolution, contact support with the deal link and receipt.
